Evaluating work place risks – ‘Roof access procedures update’

Your Work Place Safety … Our Concern

Dear Process Partner(s)

Since the introduction of The Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 (HSWA) which came into effect on 4 April 2016 we all have become acutely aware of our individual responsibly to ensure people that either work for us or on our behalf get home healthy and safe. This has meant we are continually seeking to improve the health and safety of those who rely on and trust in us to make positive improvements with how we carry out our business activities.

During 2017 we have been asked repeatedly by all stake holders including building owners, tenants and technicians how could we improve the safety of those who being asked to access air conditioning equipment and associated mechanical plant located on a building roofs.

We have worked with our Health and Safety Committee to address this concern and as of January 2018 buildings not fitted an approved permanent (internal or external) roof access system will now be attended by 2 members of Ideal Air’s technical staff (technician and technical assistant) and our service coordination team will complete a WorkSafe ‘particular hazardous work notification permit’ prior to stating works, please see WorkSafe NZ link.

Ideal Air appreciate your ongoing partnership with us ensuring the well-being of those who count on us to provide a safe and healthy place of work.
